Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Expansion Act
A bill to authorize the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to establish an apprenticeship program and to establish a pilot program on cybersecurity training for veterans and members of the Armed Forces transitioning to civilian life, and for other purposes.
The bill, SB5067, proposes to authorize the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to create an apprenticeship program in cybersecurity and a pilot training program for veterans and Armed Forces members transitioning to civilian careers. This bill aims to provide these individuals with the necessary skills and experience to thrive in the cybersecurity field.
This legislation would directly benefit veterans and military personnel by offering them specialized training and career opportunities in cybersecurity. The apprenticeship program would give them hands-on experience, while the pilot training program would equip them with the skills needed for the civilian workforce.
As of July 22, 2026, the bill has been introduced and referred to the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs for further review. It is currently in the initial stages of the legislative process.
