Territorial Protection and Sovereignty Act
To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to repeal the authority to grant temporary protected status, and for other purposes.
HB8460, also known as the Territorial Protection and Sovereignty Act, aims to change the Immigration and Nationality Act by removing the ability to grant Temporary Protected Status (TPS). TPS allows people from certain countries to stay in the U.S. temporarily if their home countries are facing natural disasters, wars, or other crises. If passed, this bill would end that protection.

As of April 23, 2026, the bill has just been introduced in the House and referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary. This is the first step in the legislative process. Moving forward, the committee will review the bill, possibly hold hearings, and decide whether to send it to the full House for further action.
