Environmental Justice Screening Tool Act of 2025
To require the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency to develop a geospatial mapping tool to identify disproportionately burdened communities, and for other purposes.
This bill, HB6815, aims to direct the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to create a tool for mapping areas where communities face higher environmental burdens. This tool will help identify neighborhoods that experience a disproportionate amount of environmental hazards.
The tool is intended to benefit communities that are often marginalized and disproportionately affected by pollution and other environmental issues. It will provide valuable data to help these communities advocate for better environmental policies and protections.
Introduced on December 17, 2025, the bill has been referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce and the Committee on Natural Resources for further review. The bill is in its initial stages, and additional steps will include committee review, possible amendments, and votes in the House.
