Veterans Medicare Premium Transparency Act
To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to require the Medicare & You handbook to provide information on the impacts of enrollment in the patient enrollment system of the Department of Veterans Affairs on Medicare premiums, and for other purposes.
This bill aims to improve transparency around Medicare premiums for veterans. It proposes to update the Medicare & You handbook to include detailed information about how enrolling in the Department of Veterans Affairs' patient system affects Medicare premiums. This would help veterans make informed decisions about their healthcare options.
The bill would primarily affect veterans who are enrolled in both Medicare and the Department of Veterans Affairs' healthcare system. By providing clear information on how these enrollments impact their Medicare premiums, veterans can better understand and manage their healthcare costs. This transparency is intended to empower veterans with the knowledge they need to choose the best healthcare plan for their needs.
As of July 30, 2026, the bill has been introduced in the House and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means, as well as to the Committees on Energy and Commerce, and Veterans' Affairs. These committees will review the bill and may hold hearings to gather more information and input from stakeholders before it moves forward in the legislative process.
